Great Southern Nights venues are required to book artists for the night or nights your funding is allocated to. Funding follows an assessment and is subject to signing a contract provided by ARIA.
The Great Southern Nights curatorial team will need to approve the venue’s proposed talent before the contract with ARIA is signed.
Should you require assistance with artists, the Great Southern Nights team will be able to send you a list of approved agents you can contact in order to secure talent.
Yes, if your venue is selected to host a Great Southern Nights show, you will be entitled to receive a financial contribution of up to $2,500 + GST per event. Please see the Venue Application Form to assess your eligibility.
Venues must allocate a minimum $1,500 (GST excl) of the financial contribution towards artist fees – noting that it is a condition in the contract that the venue will sign with ARIA that each performer must receive a payment of at least $250 for the performance. The venue will not be entitled to receive any additional funding from ARIA or DNSW if the costs of the artist payments exceeds the $1,500 or the total funding contribution for Great Southern Nights.
The remainder of the funding contribution (if any) must be used by the venue to support event costs including, but not limited to, production staff, security and front of house staff.
The financial contribution is subject to signing a contract provided by ARIA.
All successful venues will be eligible to receive a one-off financial contribution for at least one show. There may be an opportunity for your venue to host additional shows. All shows will be decided by the Great Southern Nights curatorial team.
A minimum of one live music artist is required. Each venue must provide three hours minimum of live music in order to be included in the program and meet the requirements of the agreement issued to the venue by ARIA. We strongly encourage venues to host more than one artist per show.

A Great Southern Nights Feature Artist Event Show is a different show to your confirmed Great Southern Nights show and is subject to different funding and other contractual requirements.
Feature Artists and their agents are responsible for programming their show. If your venue is interested in hosting a Great Southern Nights Feature Artist Event show, we suggest that you contact the booking agents who generally provide talent into venues to see if there is interest in you hosting a Feature Artist Event Show.
If your venue is approached by agents or anyone on the Great Southern Nights team regarding a Feature Artists Event Show, the contribution funding for this Feature Artists Event Show is separate and cannot be used for the confirmed Great Southern Nights show/s you that have been allocated.
It is also worth noting that holding a Feature Artist Event Show at your venue will not affect the show allocation you have been granted.
The venue and artist/s must not allow any TV broadcasts or live streams of the performance except with ARIA’s prior approval.
Any changes to your confirmed Great Southern Nights show, including cancellations, will need to be approved by the Great Southern Nights curatorial team.
We encourage venues participating in Great Southern Nights to submit a line up with NSW based artists. Any non-NSW based artists submitted will need to be approved by the Great Southern Nights team before booked.
If your application is accepted by ARIA, the contract process will commence once your venue has supplied all of the required information for the contract such as Full Line up and date/s for the proposed gig/s.
Once your venue has fully executed your Great Southern Nights contract from ARIA, the Great Southern Nights Team will supply further details about your marketing kit.
